Meet AMAA. Nigeria’s First Certified Organic Whole-Food Protein.

The best place to start a brand story is the beginning. So here is ours.

AMAA Organic Proteins is a Nigerian company, founded in Lagos in 2023, building what we believe is the country’s first certified organic whole-food protein powder. Not imported. Not rebranded. Built from the ground up, formulated here, produced here, certified here, for the people who live here.

If you have never heard of us before today, welcome. Here is what we are and what we are doing.

What AMAA Is

AMAA is a protein supplement made from seven certified organic whole-food ingredients: soybean meal, pumpkin seed, chia seed, sunflower seed, flaxseed, groudnut and almond. That is the full list. No isolates. No fillers. No artificial flavours, sweeteners, or additives. What you read on the label is what is in the bag.

One 50g scoop delivers 25.4g of protein alongside 7.3g of dietary fibre, 39.6mg of iron, 649mg of potassium, 136mg of magnesium, and 159mg of calcium. Eighteen nutrients in total. Zero trans fat. Zero cholesterol.

The formula is third-party lab certified. The product is NAFDAC registered. Every number on our label has a certificate behind it.

We are launching with three variants — Original Blend (Vanilla), Cocoa, and Matcha — in 1kg and 2.5kg pouches.

Why We Built It

The search for better nutrition kept leading us back to the same place: real food.

Not to a laboratory. Not to a manufacturing plant. To a seed. And once you understand what a certified organic seed can do, the protein, the fibre, the minerals, the micronutrients all naturally present — it becomes hard to see why a protein supplement should be built any other way.

So we built it the way we believed it should be built. From seeds and nuts, in their whole-food form, with everything nature put in them preserved. That became AMAA.

Where the Lab Comes In

We could have launched faster if we had skipped certain things. We chose not to.

Every stage of AMAA’s formulation was submitted for independent third-party laboratory analysis — not once at the end, but throughout the development process. The protein content was verified by the Kjeldahl method, the internationally accepted gold standard for protein determination in food. The full certificate is publicly available on our website.

We did this because we believe Nigerian consumers deserve brands that show their work. Not brands that tell you to trust them. Brands that give you the evidence and let you decide.

The numbers on our label are not marketing claims. They are lab results.

What Makes AMAA Different

Three things, specifically:

Whole-food, not isolated. Most protein supplements isolate a single macronutrient and discard the rest. AMAA keeps the complete nutrient profile of the seed — which is why one serving delivers protein, fibre, iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, and B vitamins simultaneously. You are not drinking protein. You are drinking food that happens to be exceptionally high in protein.

Certified organic. Every single ingredient is certified organic — grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or chemical processing agents. This is a sourcing standard applied to every batch. It is a decision we made at the start and we have held to it through three reformulations.

Made in Nigeria, for Nigeria. Conceived in Lagos, formulated in Lagos, produced in Lagos, tested at a NAFDAC-licensed laboratory in Lagos. Every step of the supply chain, from seed to pouch, happens inside Nigeria. Your naira stays here. The jobs this business creates stay here. That matters to us.

Who AMAA Is For

AMAA is for health-conscious Nigerians who want to nourish their bodies well and want to know exactly what they are putting in them.

For the woman who wants serious iron, calcium, and protein from a single clean source — and knows that her nutritional needs deserve as much attention as anyone else’s. At 39.6mg of iron per serving, AMAA meets over 220% of the daily recommended value, making it particularly well-suited for women’s nutritional needs.

For the gym-goer who wants something they can read, understand, and feel genuinely good about putting in their body every day.

For the professional who wants to eat well on a busy schedule without overthinking it. One scoop. Complete nutrition. Done.

For the parent who wants a certified, lab-tested, NAFDAC-registered product they can confidently include in the family’s diet.

For anyone who believes that what goes into the body should be real.

What Comes Next

This is the first post in what will become a regular rhythm. You can expect, over the coming weeks:

  • Deep dives into each of the six ingredients and why they are in the blend
  • Full breakdowns of the lab results and what each nutrient actually does for the body
  • Honest conversations about plant protein — including the questions people don’t ask out loud
  • Production notes from the Lagos facility — showing the work, not just the outcomes
  • Recipes, reviews, and real stories from the first Nigerians using AMAA

We are launching with three years of work behind us and a conviction that Nigerian consumers deserve better than what they have been given. This blog is where we will keep showing the work.
